- Define the technical vision for our backend architecture and set clear priorities in close collaboration with product and engineering stakeholders.
- Take technical and functional leadership of one or more backend teams, acting as mentor, coach, and sparring partner.
- Ensure robust, maintainable, and high-performance services that operate reliably under production load in a microservices or modular domain architecture.
- Support the team in selecting, introducing, and continuously improving backend technologies, CI/CD pipelines, observability solutions, and testing strategies.
- Work closely with frontend, mobile, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions that create real value for our customers.

Your mission
As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in evolving our core backend platform. You will shape the technical roadmap, take ownership of architectural decisions, and lead a growing team of backend engineers. Together, we will elevate performance, scalability, and developer productivity to the next level.
Your profile
- Several years of experience as a backend engineer with strong expertise in relevant programming languages and technologies (e.g. Java, Kotlin, or comparable stacks).
- Proven experience in technically leading and mentoring software engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of scalable microservices architectures, messaging patterns, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms.
- Hands-on experience owning and documenting architectural decisions in complex systems.
- An agile mindset, high quality standards, and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Strong communication skills in English and/or German is a plus.
