- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs used across Smartbroker products.
- Take ownership of critical backend components throughout their full lifecycle - from design and implementation to operation and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve our microservices and domain-driven architectures.
- Ensure high code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and well-structured documentation.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, mobile teams, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end features.
- Proactively identify technical debt and performance bottlenecks and drive improvements.

Your mission
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the development and evolution of our backend services. You will take ownership of complex components, drive technical excellence, and work closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
Your profile
- Several years of professional experience as a backend engineer in a production environment.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, or similar).
- Solid experience with RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Practical knowledge of cloud-native development, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- A strong sense of ownership, reliability, and responsibility for production systems.
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
- Very good English and/or German skills.
